53rd Avenue Community Park
300 NE 53rd Avenue, Hillsboro, OR 97124
This 14-acre community park offers diverse outdoor areas for play and recreation. Currently constructed on the southeast portion of the site are artificial turf multi-sport fields, concessions, restrooms, a plaza area with water play fountain, tennis courts, basketball court, children's play area and parking. The 53rd Ave Sports Fields are approximately 178,000 sq. ft. of all-weather artificial turf. The lighted fields are striped for two soccer and lacrosse fields, but are able to accommodate a wide variety of sports and other recreational activities. Restrooms and a concession building are located north of the fields.
Two full basketball courts can be accessed from the main path near the center of the park.
There are many benches throughout the park, at the major facilities.
A concession building with a paved patio area sells refreshments during many games. Open June 15 - August 30, 12 noon - 5 pm.
Off-street parking is provided on the north and south sides of the park, off of NE 53rd Street.
Most paths are paved. The six-foot wide paved path connects to the sports fields and the facilities at the north end of the park. A soft surface path meanders around the rain gardens.
Two play areas in the center of the park have creative, accessible play structures and swings. The surface of the play areas has wood chips and can be accessed from the path by a ramp.
Lovely gardens near to the playground demonstrate how rainwater runoff can be captured on-site to improve water quality in the local watershed.
Accessible restroom facilities are available in the middle of the park between the field and the playground. There are several drinking fountains located throughout the park.
The artificial turf fields are lighted and can be accessed from the main path, closest to the parking lot on the south side of the park. The fields offer a very large space for soccer, lacrosse and other active sports. A small set of bleachers and a low wall offer seating.
The central, paved plaza has a zero-depth water feature with spray jets for play on hot summer days. Terraced seating and a raised lawn area provide space for parents and picnicking.
Four tennis courts can be accessed from the main path, next to the north parking lot.
