Shadywood Park

Shadywood Park offers a quiet setting amidst the shade of several towering oak groves. Three picnic areas at the park provide opportunities to gather for large groups, and the small playground is close to the picnic shelter in the center of the park. A horseshoe pit is available for play. A paved and flat pathway with benches alongside loops around the park. There are many connections that provide easy access from the school to the south, and the neighborhood to the east and west. Accessible restrooms and a drinking fountain are available. Shadywood Park has a picnic shelter and picnic area that is available for rental. Reservations are taken starting in January of the same year for April 15 - October 15 reservations.
There are many benches throughout the park along the path a, d around the playground.
There is one horseshoe pit available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The park has a large parking lot with accessible parking spaces and off-street parking.
All pathways are paved. The four-foot wide asphalt path loops around the park’s central features and through groupings of oak trees on the edges of the park.
There are several picnic areas with groupings of tables throughout the park. Most picnic tables are placed among the grass and trees without adjoining paths and are not fully accessible.
The surface of the picnic shelter is fully paved and the shelter has accessible picnic tables.
The playground has newer, accessible equipment and a wood chip surface. There is no ramp into the play area, which is surrounded by grass a short distance from the paved pathway. A set of swings is adjacent to the main play area and also has a wood chip surface separated from the pathway by a short strip of grass.
The park has permanent restroom facilities with two washrooms, as well as a fully accessible temporary Port-a-potty.
The two grass courts are located close to the playground and picnic shelter in the middle of the park. They do not have a paved connection to the pathway. The courts have poles, but you must bring your own nets.
